The man and the woman were paraded in the village (Photo: India Today)A man in Odisha's Kendrapara was allegedly thrashed and paraded over his love affair with a woman in his village.
The couple was also tied to a rope and paraded in the village.The incident was reported in Srirampur village of Pattamudai block in Kendrapara district, Odisha.The couple was rescued by the police and were taken to the police station.
They both were released after learning that the man had come to the woman's house with her consent.The man had reportedly gone to meet the woman when some youths of the village came and locked the house from outside and called other villagers.Both were later dragged out of the house and paraded in the village.
A video of the whole incident was also uploaded on social media.Kendrapara SP Niti Sekhar told India Today TV that no case was registered against the youths who had thrashed the man and woman.
He said the matter was settled at the police station."Since it was settled at the police station, it wasn't brought to my notice," he said.
