JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday gave his consent for the construction of 1,500 gaushalas in 1,500 gram panchayats under the general public Participation Scheme of Gaushala in Gram Panchayats revealed in budget 2022-23.
He has also authorized one-time monetary support of Rs 1,377 crore for the building and construction works.
The cow shelters will be established in the selected gram panchayats where a qualified executive agency (gram panchayat/voluntary organization) will run them.
The whole programme is divided into two parts-200 gram panchayats will be built in the year 2022-23 and 1,300 in 2023-24.
Government will bear 90% of the total expense and the executive firm will bear 10% of the quantity, stated the official statement, while adding that the move will serve the stray cows by supplying them safe and safe and secure shelters.
The farmers will be benefitted too as the roaming cows damage crops.
When their breast feeding period is over, cows are typically launched by the owners in cities contributing to traffic concerns.
The shelters will house such cows, stated an official.Of total Rs 1,377 crore, Rs 183.60 crore will be spent in the year 2022-23 on 200 cow shelters while remaining Rs 1,193.40 crore will be kept for many years 2023-24 to construct 1,300 cow shelters.
