Colombo: Former Sri Lankan cricketer Dilhara Lokuhettige is set to be prohibited for eight years for corruption charges.According to highly put sources, the 40-year-old former all-rounder is being banned for 8 years after being charged with three breaches of the ICC's anti-corruption code.

Unlike Heath Streak, who too was prohibited for eight years recently, Lokuhettige is not likely to admit his regret and will await his fate at the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport), where he submitted his appeal (on March 19 this year) after the tribunal's decision on 19th January.

Lokuhettige has been charged with breaching Article 2.1.1, being party to an effort to repair or contrive or otherwise affect poorly the result, development, conduct, or other element(s) of an International Match; Article 2.1.4, directly solicited, caused, attracted or motivated one Sri Lankan gamer to breach Code Short article 2.1.1; and Short article 2.4.4, failed to disclose to the ACU (without unnecessary hold-up, or at all) complete details of any techniques or invites he got to participate in Corrupt Conduct under the Code.

Interestingly, the ICC suspension is available in the wake of two of the 3 members in the tribunal Michael Belhoff QC (Chairman) and the Honourable Mr Justice Winston Anderson discovering that the ICC has developed jurisdiction over Lokuhettige.

The other member, Simon Copleston, dissented from that finding.
